With near ZERO carbon emissions, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a renewable energy power plant which can support base load power. OTEC converts thermal energy to electricity utilizing the temperature difference between warm surface seawater (20-30) and cold deep seawater (4-6). Alongside electricity generation, technologies which can be easily incorporated include water production, aquaculture systems, lithium recovery, hydrogen production, and others. The GEC fully integrated system illustrated below, I-OTECS, is an environmentally friendly technology to solve the problems of energy, water and food production in our world today.
